Family Engagement Spotlight: The Brotherhood Brunch
The Brother Hood Brunch was created by Brother Vince Hoeshen of the Kingmakers MDP program at Antioch Middle School. Brother Vince has been teaching the KOO curriculum for the past five-plus years at Antioch Middle School. This year Brother Vince wanted to create a cascading mentoring program for his middle school students. He wants to help uplift the younger students at Marsh Elementary School which is a ten-minute walk from his middle school.
Each month his students, along with staff, walk over to the elementary school to have lunch and help support, uplift, strengthen and build the confidence within the young kings at the school. This has been a wonderful experience for all the youth who have been involved in this program. Everyone has benefited from this program.
“Our Kings at Antioch middle school are starting to understand and realize the leadership qualities that they possess. It’s beautiful to see the impact that these Kings have on these elementary students. The youth at Marsh elementary school are so excited when our kings come up to campus” said Brother Vince Hoeshen.
The principal and staff have seen so much growth and improvement in their students from this interaction with Antioch Middle School. This pilot program has been a smash hit between both schools. The KOO team continues to engage, empower and encourage our young people in schools and communities. Job well done. Be on the lookout for our next update on this new partnership!
