TFI student college tourOver 70 Black and Brown students stayed in the UC Berkeley Foothill dorms for a week to test college life. Over four days they toured UC Berkeley, Cal State East Bay, UC Davis, Sacramento State, Stanford University, Santa Clara University, and University of Pacific each time learning something unique to each campus while understanding college admissions deeper.

Students were introduced to the college life balance and time management discipline. Each day after campus tours hearing from current students about their experiences TFI team enjoyed some fun activities each night for life balance.

This was also the first opportunity for the Oakland and Los Angeles contingents to connect to expand their perspectives. Leaders from both sides were intentional to get students to collaborate and activate. This was the first time students stayed on a college campus and for many it was their first time away from family. From beginning to end this experience was life-changing as TFI students experienced life as college students.

Speaking to the various college students at each school gave them game for the keys to success. Starting their junior year students are now ahead in their planning and prep for potential colleges.

TFI Oakland graduated their first cohort last May 2023 with 100% college acceptance. We understand the power of college and what it takes to create the mindset to have college expectations.
